As far as other school divisions are concerned, Orange County already provides its own LD program so Orange students aren’t sent to Piedmont, according to McDaniel. “Culpeper is thinking seriously about providing its own,” he said.
McDaniel added that Piedmont may well drop its LD program if Rappahannock County is the only jurisdiction using it, forcing the county to institute local LD classes.
“Any new position at the elementary School would require an additional classroom,’’" he repeated. “The LD teacher would provide better service with a larger classroom and we’d get a much better return on our dollars if "the psychologist had an adequate place to test children,” McDaniel concluded.
