—What steps would you take to improve compliance with the county’s trash laws?
Jenkins: "During my last term as sheriff, trash was also a problem. We spent many hours, many trips to the dump sites to prevent the dumpsters from being misused.
"But the dumpsters are 10, 12, 15 miles apart. It’s pretty hard to watch all of them all the time. I think trash will always be a problem in rural areas where the dumpsters aren’t watched by neighborly people. But I would do my best to watch them as well as it could be done.”
