Buntin: As a department, we try to be available 24 hours a day. Personally, anytime that I’m in the county—either at home or at the office—I’m available. And I’m in'the county most of the time, practically all the time except for one vacation during the summer.

“I think I feel closer td the state police because I spent 29 years on the force. But I feel like I would get along with'them whether I had or not.”
—Are there differences between the state police and the sheriffs department in areas of jurisdiction?
Buntin: “The sheriffs department" has exclusive jurisdiction in'the county in which we work. Further, we have jurisdiction in surrounding counties in order to serve civil papers. The state police are vested with power above ' the sheriff to enforce all 'the laws of the
