Buntin: “Extra attention is needed in follow-up investigations on burglaries and larcenies. With- the extra man we got this year, we’ll be able to devote more time to that. Our situation still isn’t perfect but it has improved.
“About all we could do before was make'the initial investigation. By the time we were ’ through, we had' three or four more to take care of. We've been ’ short on followup investigations. There’s no question about it.”
—How well do you know Rappahannock County?
Buntin: “In my 29 years with the state police and three and a half years ais sheriff, I’ve come to know every road "thoroughly. I know practically where all the people in" the county live. For efficiency, I think it’s important to know Rappahannock well. We’re able to respond to emergency calls quickly. We’re also able to serve papers easily, giving us more time for other police work.”
