Apple Day
This Sat.
Apple Day Festivities will begin at 11 a.m. this Saturday, October 20, at the Recreation Center on Route 211 and 522, just outside the town of Washington.
Former state archery champions Dutch and Mertie Schultz will demonstrate their skill with a bow and arrow while Charlie Tompkins and friends provide blue grass music on the banjo, guitar and bass. There will be demonstrations on how to make cider and apple butter and displays of antique apple equipment. The Virginia Creepers will also be on hand to entertain ' the crowds with country music.
Cider, apple butter and hand-picked Rappahannock apples will be offered for sale at the Recreation Center.
Varieties of baked apple goods and Other apple products will be sold in town at the Historical Building.
Proceeds from Apple Day will benefit the Rappahannock Historical Society.
