New Track
To the editor:
Regarding title to'the new track being' held by the Panther Athletic League, I would like to point out'this fundamental fact: If anyone is foolish enough to build a house on anyone else’s land, he has no house. Title goes with the land on which the house rests. So be it with' the track. It has been built on school property,' therefore it is school property and nobody in PAL argues the question.
PAL agrees'that'the track has drainage problems. Since we have just had 24.75 inches of rain in' the last nine weeks, there are a lot of drainage problems in'the county, but, as in many sections, it is impossible to get machinery in on'this property now and make any corrections.
Mr. Aldrich, with his own machinery, cleared'this land at no expense to anybody. PAL, with no contract, brought in a bulldozer by the hour, and has paid for same. There was no liability on' the part of the School Board. The land can be drained. PAL believes that if has enough money to put in drainage and to reseed ' the infield area when' the land is dry enough to do so. The services of the County Engineer will be welcomed.
If anyone becomes impatient, just remember' that in' this immediate territory, it takes several years just to move a gas tank!
