RCHS shot 65 percent from the foul line and 49 percent from the field. Greg Bright had game high on points with 16. Gary Leake led on rebounding with seven. He also had 13 points. Jimmy Tomko had 12 points and six rebounds.
JV Defeated
The J. V. Panthers lost a game full of headaches last Friday 37-35, to the Page Panthers.
Rappahannock opened up with the first basket on a Robert Myers shot. Defense was the key for the quarter and both teams had an even 10 at the end of the period.
The Panthers went five minutes into the second*1 quarter without scoring. Rory Williams was the first one to open up for Rappahannock but by then Page had an 1812 edge. The Panthers hit one more before the buzzer to cut it to 18-14. The Panthers defense let Page shoot the ball 25 times in the first half, but Page only made nine.
Rappahannock started the second half cold, and two minutes ticked off the clock before Carl Frye revitalized the Panthers. Rappahannock held Page to only two baskets the rest of the quarter and trailed 24-22 after a bucket by Robert Myers.
Page started the final period with two baskets to lead 28-22. A steal by Rory Williams and basket by Glenn Fletcher brought the JV Panthers within two, 2826.
The Panthers’ biggest problem the whole game was foul shooting. Rappahannock was zero out of 12 in the first, second, and third quarters. Doyle Dunn was the first to hit any free throws and he tied the score 28-28 in the fourth period.
