Funeral services for Mrs. Dorothy B. Smith were conducted Friday at the Joynes Funeral Home in Warrenton. Burial was in the Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery at Amissville.
Mrs. Smith, 57, a resident of Washington, D.C., died Saturday, January 26, 1980 at the George Washington University Hospital.
She is survived by her husband, Robert L. Smith of Washington, D.C.; Five sisters, Mrs. Kate Pendleton and Mrs. Millie King, both of Amissville, Mrs. Margaret Lee of Viewtown, Mrs. Katherine Gaines and Mrs. Mary Grove, both of Washington, D.C.; seven brothers, George Shanklin and Raymond Groves, both of Amissville, James Groves and William Groves, both of Washington, D.C., Thomas Groves of Middletown, Pa., Walter Groves of Jeffersonton and Julian Groves, Falls Church.

Mrs. Becky Burke of Washington has been named chairman of the 1980 American Heart Association campaign for Rappahannock County and will coordinate local volunteers during the February residential campaign.
Door-to-door workers will be collecting contributions to support the Heart Association’s programs of research, education and community service. An informative pamphlet detailing how contributions are spent will be distributed.
Since 1949, the American Heart Association has channeled more than $300 million in public contributions into cardiovascular research programs across the nation. Currently, in Virginia, there are 16 active AHA researchers among the state’s three medical schools.
