Rappahannock’s Junior Panthers had a tougher tim£ and lost 37-34, to the Junior Generals.
The Panthers led the wholi first quarter with Carl Frye controlling the offensive boards while Lee Anderson pulled in the rebounds oft defense.
Stonewall found the range on the basket in the second period. The Junior Generate held Rappahannock’s Jv scoreless for two minutes and forced two turn-overs within 40 seconds. Bad passes by thfe Panthers combined with Stonewall’s shooting accuracy to put the Generals ahead, 20-14 at the half.
Rappahannock came oift blazing at the start of the second half and scored six quick points but cooled off just as fast- Plagued by ba$ passes, the Panthers also faltered on rebounding control and trailed 29-22 at the end of the third period.
Fletcher and Martin connected on key free throws early in the final quarter to bring the Panthers to withip two. 32-30, but Stonewall held on to win, 37-34.
Frye and Martin were high for Rappahannock’s JV with 13 points apiece.
