photos of dumpsters at the old Sperryville school with trash spread all over the ground.
Rappahannock’s first 1970 traffic fatality was Thomas Harry Williams of Washington, D.C. who was killed in a crash on Route 522 east of Woodville. The vehicle burst into flames after it crashed.
The Virginia General Assembly with Duncan C. Gibb representing Rappahannock was endeavoring to fund and finance within the present tax structure all of the many services needed. Whether or not to permit twin trailers on the state’s highways was also a question.
Turkey hunters set an all time record with a year’s total of 6,000, while deer killed state-wide numbered 34,117. That year Virginia received $750,000 from the tax on arms, ammunition and fishing tackle.
