Get this one: a bill to eliminate the maximum class size of kindergarten through third grades. It is comong from the Education Committee that, at the last session, killed a similar bill proposed by Governor Dalton.
I’ll bet another bill will raise some eyebrows. It will require school boards to prohibit students from parking on school property if other transportation (school buses) is available, or if the student lives within 2'/i miles of the school.
Back again is a bill that was soundly defeated last year allowing private schools to enter the public school athletic completion league. It is already known that some private schools accept star athletes whose grades are such that they cannot enter college. After two years in these schools their grades improve and they wind up in the college that sent them there in the first place. I voted against it last year and will do so again.
Well, that's all for now and remember all the above bills are still at the committee stage, except the gasohol bill, which is on its merry way to the Senate. We had almost 2.000 bills last year and only a few more than 600 passed, so don't count the chickens or should I say the apple jellies before you eat them. See you next week.
