Rappahannock’s varsity girl’s track team posted a rewarding win over Warren County last week, trouncing their next-door-neighbors 6647. The Panther girls took all events but three.
Mary Jordan was first in the shot put with a throw of 31’9%”. Tammy Atkins won the discus with a toss of 99’2” followed by Donna Gore in third place with 91’2”.
In the long jump, it was Allison Best winning with a leap of 14’6l/i’\ Johanna Day won the high jump, falling just an inch short of five feet.
Rhonda Wiley was first across the finish line in the hurdles in 16.8 seconds.
Two Injured
In Crash
Two young women were injured in a single vehicle crash on the Old Hollow Road near Sperryville on April 19.
Cheryl Ann Smith of Washington operating a 1972 Ford station wagon traveling south failed to negotiate a curve and struck the embankment. She sustained a broken nose and numerous bruises, according to Trooper C. A. Moore.
Tammy Armentrout of Woodville, a passenger in the vehicle, received a serious laceration of the right arm and many bruises including one on her head.
They were taken to Culpeper Memorial Hospital.
Damage to the station wagon was estimated at a thousand dollars and charges are pending, said Moore.
