The Panthers had their first sweep of the year in the 100 yard dash with Allison Best winning in 12.2 followed by Kim Williams (12.3), Crystol Porter (12.4) and Rhonda Brown (12.7).

RCHS almost managed a repeat performance in the 220 with Porter first in 28 seconds, Debbie Seal third and Best fourth. Day won the 880 in 2:38 with Sheila Scott placing third.

Due to minor injuries, Rappahannock’s star distance runner Ann Thomas could not complete against Warren in the mile. Sharon Scott took up the slack, winning in 6:30. She followed it up with a first in the two mile run in the two mile run in 13:52. Thomas, just jogging around the track, placed second.

The most exciting event of the day was the running of the 440 relay by Laura Tupper, Debbie Seal, Barbara Pendleton and Rhonda Brown. At anchor, Brown came from behind to edge out Warren in a total time for the four runners of 57.1.

In the 880 relay. Best, Porter, Seal and Williams also took first in 1:55.
