Concert
The Rappahannock Chorus under the direction of Gloria Harris will present its annual spring concert Saturday, May 10 at f p.m. at the old Washington school building.
The main feature in the program will be the delightful “Liebeslieber Walzer” by Johanne Brahms. As texts Brahms chose poems from Daumer’s “Polydorn”, a collection of translations and imitations of folk poetry mostly Russian, Polish and Magyar.
“In them the joy and rapture of love seem to be the predominating sentiment. Brahms has matched them with a piano duet which can stand alone as a charming and complete example of writing in this genre while the chorus parts are full of rhynthic vitality and harmonic coloration,” said Mrs. Harris.
Accompanying the chorus with the piano duet will be Beverly Clark and Virginia Bethune, both of Front Royal.
Other works on the program will be madriglas, folk and novelty songs. The public is invited to come.
