Soil Week

Observed

The local observance of

Soil Stewardship Week will | be held in Rappahannock County on May 11-18, according to Raymond R. Kite, Chairman of the Culpeper Soil and Water Conservation District.

This special time, beginning with the fifth Sunday after Easter and continuing through the sixth, is a reminder that soil and all the bountiful resources associated with it warrant the best in creative conservation and considerate management. The prime concern of the Conservation District is to encourage an ever-growing participation by all Americans in this annual recognition of the continuing importance of thoughtful stewardship.

The Culpeper District locally distributed over 9,200 pieces of literature, including booklets, program inserts, educational supplements and posters. Through the response of clergymen and laymen in dispensing this material, these fcombined efforts have allowed many to share in a sense of personal responsibility under God for the care of soil, water anO other vital elements making up our environment.
