Gov. John N. ualton's industrial development mission to Europe is a constructive enterprise and is. no doubt, worth the S30.000 it will cost the Virginia taxpayers. Its purpose is to drum up foreign investments in the Old Dominion, thereby both strengthening the state’s economy and contributing in a small way to an easing of the nation’s perennial balance of payments deficit.
The governor and his party departed April 20 on the 12day trip. Their itinerary included Belgium, Germany, Danmark and Sweden.
Accompanying the governor are Mrs. Dalton; Larry Murphy, Dalton’s senior executive assistant; J. Frank Alspaugh, director of the Virginia Division of Industrial Development; State Trooper Sergeant C. K. Highsmith, an aide; Mason Carbaugh, state Commissioner of Agriculture, and Mr. and Mrs. Bruce C.
