Funeral services for Norman Eade Sims Jr., of Sperryville were conducted Sunday at Trinity Episcopal Church in Washington by the Rev. Jennings W. Hobson III. Burial was in Oakwood Cemetery, Falls Church.
Mr. Sims, 63, died Thursday, November 20, 1980, at Fairfax Hospital. He was a native of Washington, D. C., and had lived in Sperryville for six years. He was the son of the late Norman E. Sims and a retired employee of the U. S. Treasury.
Mr. Sims was a graduate of Washington and Lee High School and received his AB in Government from George Washington University and MCS from Strayer College of Accountancy. He was a member of Alpha Kappa Psi Professional Commerce fraternity.
He served with the U. S. Army and during World War 11 was stationed in Germany. From 1940 until his retirement in 1972 Mr. Sims was employed with the Treasury Department. He was Director, Office of Budget and Finance when he retired, and had received a Meritorious Award and Special Award in 1968.
In the Army Reserve Mr. Sims was Comptroller, 113th Tactical Fighter Wing, D. C. Air National Guard and retired with the rank of Lt. Colonel.
He sang with the Columbia Light Opera Company in D. C. and was active in the Episcopal Churches in Falls Church and McLean and in Trinity Episcopal Church, Washington, Va. where he was a Vestryman, choir member and Junior and Senior Warden.
