Physically Unfit
SOQ objectives call for 60 per cent of students in grades four through 12 to demonstrate sound personal health practices, measured in part by physical fitness testing. In 1979-80, however, only 11 per cent of the boys and 10 per cent of the girls in the elementary school scored satisfactorily on physical fitness ratings. At the high school, 79 per cent of boys and 59 per cent of girls achieved satisfactory scores.
On capital outlay, SOQ objectives call for the 1979-80 budget to reflect approved plans for immediate space needs but capital outlay needs were not addressed in the approved budget. The SOQ strategy states that a time schedule for completion of capital outlay projects should be developed and financial plan determined by September, 1979. Neither has been done. The only response to the SOQ report at Tuesday’s board meeting came from Eastham who asked for information on student progress after graduation in fields of higher education and employments.
