In tne early part of the nineteenth century Mr. Wash Clark and his son operated a tavern on Main Street in the town of Washington. It was a two-story affair with a long double porch facing the road. Here a hungry traveler or town merchant could order all he could eat for fifty cents and on court days in the county seat the line of customers stretched all the way from the court house, several blocks away.
