Under special education objectives, the employment of a special education coordinator is called for by August, 1980. This position was not filled.
Under gifted and talented, programs were to have begun by June, 1979. Last year, 41 elementary and ten high school students were involved in after-school activities for gifted and talented. This year, 70 students at the elementary and 42 at the high school have been identified for inclusion in expanded gifted and talented programs.
By June, 1981, graduates will have demonstrated minimum competency in citizenship and civic responsibilities, according to SOO objectives. The report notes that one way of assessing student competency in citizenship is whether they vote. For the November 4, 1980 elections, 100 per cent of eligible RCHS students registered and all but one (94 per cent) voted, a participation level far above national, state and local averages.
