In other action, vicechairman Stokes reported that the planning commission has received an application for rezoning but could take no action to begin the hearing process because it was not signed by the property owner. County ordinances require the rezoning applications be signed by the owner, optionee I or contract owner.
Miller suggested that in the future, applications indicate whether the signature is ahat of owner, optionee or contract owner. In addition, he proposed that a map showing the location of the property accompany all rezoning applications.
The unsigned request was from Virginia Dodson of Slate Mills asking for reclassification from agriculture to commercial for a commercial garage.

To the editor:
As much as the county fire departments need every dollar they can raise, it is a shameful thing when those participating in fund raising activities cannot behave with decency.
At the Washington Volunteer Fire Department’s shooting matches. two troublemakers have caused problems and thereby caused many people to stay away. We have asked the sheriff to notify them that they are no longer welcome. With the troublemakers barred from the premises, we hope that the decent clientele whose business we appreciate will return. However, only general public rejection of such behavior will really solve the problems.
