In addition, local government officials and citizens will have an opportunity to comment on how Virginia's interstate, primary and urban road construction money and public transit funds should be spent in the coming fiscal year at a meeting in the Highway Department's district headquarters in Culpeper on April 8 at 9 a.m. The department’s preliminary projections indicate that just over $300 million in state and federal funds will be available for interstate, primary and urban systems in the fiscal year beginning July 1.
That figure is approximately $50 million less than was available for allocation in the current fiscal year and may be cut even further by proposed reductions in federal aid for highway construction projects.
