The preliminary census figures give the total number of housing units in the county as 2,722—an increase of 34 per cent over the 2,024 units counted in 1970. The biggest jump, 54 per cent, comes in Jackson District where the number of housing units leaped from 396 in 1970 to 611 in 1980.

On Mexico
Two Rappahannock couples have returned from a volunteer program working with missionaries in Mexico. Lloyd and Betty Sims and Howard and Helen Holschuh spent two weeks in Villahermosa, in the Mexican province of Tobasco, with Baptist missionaries Harvey and Martha Walworth.
Their visit was coordinated by the Volunteer Service Overseas department of the Southern Baptist Convention’s Foreign Mission Board.
The Walworths had moved into a new home in this southeast Mexico community. but it was unfinished and lacked many amenities. While Lloyd and Howdy built cabinets and bookshelves from locally available plywood. Betty and Helen sewed curtains and drapes for every room in the house. Many other projects filled their days, including work at the church parsonage for the local pastor and his wife.
Terming the experience “most rewarding." the foursome will give a slide report of their adventure at 8 p.m.. Thursday, March 12. at the Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church, on Rt. 522 south of Woodville. The public is invited.
