At Monday’s meeting the Rappahannock supervisors denied one application for a commercial garage rezoning, tabled a second and authorized the planning commission to hold a public hearing on an ordinance amendment which would allow commercial garages with a special use permit in agricultural zones.
The supervisors followed the planning commissions recommendation in turning down Charles Dodson’s application to rezone a lot on Route 707 at Slate Mills from agricultural to commercial.
No one appeared to speak in favor of the request while neighboring landowners Irvin Kenyon and Phillip Hawkins repeated opposition they raised at the planning commission’s earlier public hearing.
Kenyon noted that the rezoning did not comply with ordinance criteria that commercial zones be equated to major transportation routes or industrial areas. He maintained that approval of .the rezoning would have a detrimental impact on property values in the area and did not fit in with the
