Mr. Woodward, a Norfolk resident with property in the vicinity of the proposed tannery, said the 12 families in the immediate area of the building were concerned about residue disposal.
Biochemist Bill Worrell reported that fish scales will be settled out in tanks, dried, stored and sold. "Tne rest of the residue will be disposed of according to state law," he said, adding that federal and state regulations won't permit further pollution of the Thornton River.
"Just because there are regulations doesn’t mean there’s no pollution," countered Frye, citing pollution from chemical wastes in other areas of the country.
