this is not an expensive program. No additional space is needed beyond the normal class room, or a corner of the library or cafeteria. No materials are needed beyond paper and pencil. Costs include minor administrative expense and artists salaries. The Virginia Commission for the Arts pays up to 50 percent of the cost. The remainder is paid for by the sponsoring school(s) or private organization(s).
Applications must be submitted by April 1 for residencies which will take place between July 1, 1981 through August 31, 1982. President Reagan has proposed sharp budget cuts in arts programs. Shouldn't we take advantage of this opportunity while we can?
