A native of Fairfax County, Dennis moved to the family farm near Flint Hill in 1976. Since then, he has been selfemployed as a consultant to private and government organizations including the Conservation Foundation, Georgia Conservancy, Izaak Walton League of America, State University of New York, Colorado Office of State Planning and Budgeting, U. S. Environmental Protection Agency, and Virginia Outdoors Foundation.
