A “double A” team from Warren County proved to be too much for “single A” Rappahannock to handle last week as the Panther’s lost in a high scoring non-district game, 21-12.
But despite the defeat, coach Glen Davis was pleased with his players’ performance. “We played well enough to beat any Skyline District competitor. We scored 12 runs with the team hitting much better.”
Losing pitcher Mike Brown connected on three out of four trips to the plate, scoring one run. Mike Leake, Richie Burke, Eric Bear and Pops Aylor each scored twice for the Panthers. Leake highlighted the afternoon by slamming a two-run homer over the centerfield fence.
