Algae and some other weeds growth may be controlled by (a) regulating flow of water through the pond (b) periodic fertilization and (c) chemical treatment. The chemical treatment may cause fish-kill if not used properly. Some pond owners have reported significant reduction of algae by stocking the ponds with Israeli Carp. The Carp feed on the algae.
