We are fortunate because in many schools the students don’t even know who their principal is but in our school the principal is a friend to everyone who walks in the office. It takes a truly special person to make you feel important when you talk to him. He has a way of communicating with the students which, in this day and age, seems almost to be a gift. It would be a great loss to the school if he were removed and a loss to the students as well. We have stated our views on the matter and we support Mr. Wingfield. We hope that Mr. Estabrook will take into consideration our opinion when he makes his recommendation to the School Board on April 13th.

Tacky Manner
To the editor:
Sad it is when our county educational professionals make a decision supposedly based on professional knowhow, and furthermore, implement that judgement in a rather tacky manner.
How long will it take for those of us who have been too long apathetic to get up off our sleeping seats and say to those who act for us, that there are many Rappahannock citizens who not only have the right to oppose the non-renewal of Mr. Wingfield’s contract but do so with “Professional” credibility. Many students, teachers, parents, and Rappahannock Citizens alike, also know how to evaluate principles and principals in terms of good character, honesty, discipline and certainly a long track record of perseverance.
Hopefully, no longer will Rappahannock citizens allow their voices to be silent when • professional people make untimely decisions when less is known about the decision maker, than about those who are affected. Let it be known to those who direct our education - we are being educated!
