town Wednesday for a meeting and was unavailable to update repair status after Tuesday's wind storm.)

There were few reports of fires sparked by high winds in Rappahannock. On Tuesday, Washington's Volunteer Fire Department responded to a chimney fire and to a brush fire on old 211 at the edge of town. The fire started at a fence line, apparently from a spark from the power line, according to neighbors, but was quickly contained.

In Culpeper County, Salem, Brandy and Culpeper fire companies worked to control a field fire Sunday afternoon that reportedly started from another downed power line. About 15 acres of open field and woodland and three outbuildings were burned before firefighters stopped the advance of flames just a few yards from a group of homes off Route 522.
