what Andy Guest predicted and carved five single member districts out of Norfolk, giving the House 100 districts of which nine have black majorities compared to two districts currently. If incumbent committee chairman are defeated in Democratic primaries, it could lead the way for what Guest described as a "revolution in the House,” leaving Republicans with a majority and seniority in key committees. If that revolutinn occurs, Guest said, he will have a choice between three chairmanships—Roads, Agriculture and Conservation and Natural Resources. He added that he would like to see Agriculture combined in one committee with Conservation and Natural Resources and would then elect to take the chairman’s seat on that new, combined committee.
The Front Royal Republican said he’s been very pleased with correspondence he’s received from constituents during the session and noted that his legislative office in Front Royal remains open to provide service year round.
As to his personal plans. Guest said he intends to run for re-election this fall and probably next fall as well. “ After that, what I do will be governed in large part by Congressman J. Kenneth Robinson’s plans,” he concluded.
