After five innings of play, the Panthers enjoyed a 7-2 lead, only to have the Rams score seven runs in the sixth while Rappahannock went hitless. In the top of the seventh the Rams added two more runs to make the tally 11-7. It was the last chance for the Panthers.
Eric Bear led off with a fly out to the second baseman. With but two outs to go, everyone began to lose faith, everyone but the Panthers, that is. Duane Myers, Wayne Atkins and Pops Aylor each got hits and scored, bringing the score up to 11-10. Richie Burke and Mike Leake hit back to back to put men on 2nd and 3rd.
