Clarification
To the editor:
The article on rabies in the Rappahannock News, dated April 8, 1982, indicated that 1 had advised Patricia Saltonstall that she should have her livestock immunized against rabies. That is not correct.
Instead, I advised her to call the State Agriculture and Consumer Services Department in Warrenton. It is my understanding that the Regional Veterinary Supervisor did recommend that her livestock be immunized against rabies.
Request that this information be corrected for the record.
Another lesser matter that was implied in the article was that we were continuing to test animals for rabies even though no known exposure had occurred. While animals are currently being submitted to document rabies in the absence of exposure, it is only being done in those areas of :he district which have not sxperienced rabies during his epizootic.
