The last information I received (also from the paper) was that the School Board planned to move into a new office in September.
Is it too much to ask that I be notified by someone in authority - either the Superintendent or the Chairman of the School Board - when there was a complaint, or that plans were progressing for a new office? A letter, a phone call, a note requesting a meeting to discuss the matter - anything other than the hypocritical way it has been handled. I don’t quarrel with these things being brought out at the School Board meetings. I do resent not being informed or consulted ahead of time.
Is this what happened to Dennis Wingfield? Was he ever approached by Estabrook at any time during the year to discuss whatever problems might exist? How is it possible for a new Superintendent, who has never held that position before, to make such statements about another person he has seen so little of and known hardly at all? Perhaps he should learn his own job first before presuming to judge another person with many years of satisfactory service.
I have known Dennis Wingfield since my own children were in Montevideo High School, where he was teaching before being invited to come here 16 years ago, and I think he has not deserved the treatment he received - nor have I - and I stated the new lease conditions to show that I'm willing to put my money where my mouth is. 1 also decided the Superintendent could read my criticisms in your paper, as I had to read his.
