Coach Spieker reported that the 880 run was a real battle with Larry Sisk coming in second in 2:14.2, just off the winning time of 2:11.8. Sisk was followed across the line by Keith Settle and Wayne Fisher. "For his first meet, Wayne really ran a good race,” the coach noted.
In the intermediate hurdles, a misstep cost the Panthers the blue ribbon as Jimmy Freemen, leading the pack, fell on the last hurdle. John Shanahan finished third in the event for RCHS.

The 800 relay team of Robert Starks. Carl Frye, Glenn Fletcher and Eugene Grigsby lost to the Brentsville boys but their time of 1:37.5 set a new record for RCHS. “That was one of the high points of the boys meet,” Spieker said. Another high point was the extra effort put 6ut by so many of the Panthers, girls and boys, according to the coach. “Twenty-four kids earned golden spikes for reaching the individual goals we set for them. We set goals we think they can’t reach and they just do better and better. They're a great bunch of kids,” said Spieker.
