It is not Mr. Wingfield, but the schoolboard who is on trial. Several years ago, the people of Rappahannock became so disgusted with the schoolboard that the voters eliminated the Educational Trustee Board, who selected the members of the schoolboard, and granted that authority instead to the county Board of Supervisors.

Now that the Board of Supervisors has had the privilege to select most of the schoolboard members, will they suffer at the polls because of the performance of the schoolboard? In the next supervisors election year will we have a one issue campaign, “the schoolboard”? One issue campaigns are seldom in the best interest of a jurisdiction, although regretfully, they happen sometimes.
