‘‘I studied industrial design in New York City at Pratt,” Clifton said. "After a year of working in New York, I couldn’t stand city life and city tension." On a travel vacation through the South, he stopped off to visit an acquaintance who lived in Rappahannock. “1 asked her if she knew of any places to rent, I looked at a house in Woodville and I moved in the next week."
Ritvo first came to the county to camp, taking a break from his job with the National Aeronautics and Space Administration at Goddard, and stayed, working as a stonemason and craftsman.
“1 was looking for the best medium to get out my ideas,” he recalled.
Ritvo and Clifton met each other while working for a furniture designer and there refined the techniques for design and production analysis that they’ve incorporated into their business venture.
Ritvo is basically a scientist with training in a work-study physics program at the University of Maryland. Clifton has an art school
