Pam Rowe, Special Services Coordinator for Rappahannock, said that, once the Olympic team is chosen, sessions will be held after school and parents will be asked to assist the children in preparing their problems.
For each age group there are different problems to prepare. Rowe thought that one last year was particularly interesting and, although Rappahannock did not participate then, it shows the kind of problem that will be facing the Rappahannock team next year.
“Earthquake Structure” was the challenge, and it really was a challenge, according to Rowe. Students were to build a model of 1/8” x 1/8” x 36” strips of balsa wood and glue.
