Beginning this spring Rappahannock’s schools will offer mini-courses and seminars for their gifted children. These will focus on practical problem-solving and the sciences. Also planned is a career day and a historical drama series offered in conjunction with the Rappahannock Association for the Arts and the Community.

A variety of summer courses will broaden horizons for gifted children. Two high school students have been recommended for the Governor’s School for the Gifted, a four to six-week program offered at several Virginia colleges.

Locally, a three-week course will be offered to students selected from grades five, six and seven this summer at the elementary school. Rowe said that this course will demonstrate problem solving techniques.
