The i> Rappahannock school board has chosen a new assistanct principal for the elementary school.

He’s 30-year-old Michael Vincent Cotter, currently of Fredericksburg. Cotter is athletic director at Battlefield Intermediate School in Spotsylvania County. He’s been there since 1975.

Cotter has reached agreement with his present employer that he may assume duties in Rappahannock as soon as a replacement can be found for him in Spotsylvania. Superintendent Robert Estabrook says that should be “by September 19 at the latest.”

Cotter has his B.A. in elementary education with a social studies teaching major from Westminster in New Wilmington, Pa., and has an M.A. in administration and school supervision from the University of Virginia. He is married and has a one-yearold daughter.

Estabrook says Cotter was chosen from a field of ten, a good number for the time of the year, according to Estabrook. Some potential applicants may have been discouraged because
