The national park service released figures this week showing that August visits at Shenandoah National Park were down 4.31 percent from August, 1982.
The number counted coming through all entrance stations last month was 257,600 compared with 269,200 during the same month last year. The overnight stays last month were 79,194 compared to 83,910.
