Judy says the Castleton fire school is coming up soon and that’s not a place where you go for fun and games." It's designed for both classroom and practical experience for fire volunteers. Last year, firefighters crawled through the “maze"—tunnels in a tractor-trailer where you see NOTHING, you’re absolutely in the dark as you might be in a smoke-filled building. It can take about half an hour to get through the maze. Then there's the "smokehouse”—a staged blaze in the firehall where volunteers enter with full gear and drag out a “body."
Judy says last year Castleton had record attendance at the school. She says anybody who wants to sign up should wall James Grigsby. The classes will take two weekends during September.
Milton Switzer went to the hospital by ambulance late last week. Family feared the pastor might have a blood clot in his leg. Everything tested okay and he was back home the same day. but still getting plenty of rest.

Mrs. Switzer adds that Sunday dinner was attended by what she calls "regular family." That’s their sons and daughters-in-law. Milton and Gloria from Viewtown and Robert and Dorothy from Culpeper. They're “regular” only in their attendance at Sunday dinner every week, they’re really extraordinary in the way they stay together as a family.
