1 bird grade pupil Patrick O’Meara has received recognition outside the county as a budding artist.
Patrick took first place among nine finalists in a pink ladies poster contest at the University of Virginia Hospital.
The theme of the competition was “What my mom or dad does at U. Va. Hospital." Patrick’s submission showed his mother, Mary O’Meara, engaged in crisis intervention at the hospital emergency room. With her was a patient receiving an intravenous blood transfusion. The judges noted that the patient’s grimace “captured the passion and trauma of patients.”
Besides the fame and glory, Patricks win a $25 prize.
