Herb#! Greet testing herbs need in delicious foods were the focus of the June Extension Homemakers County-wide program. Mrs. Florence Williamson presented some basic focts about herbs and provided low salt and sugar recipes for the participant*. Mrs. Williamson put a beautiful salad together using lettuce, chives, basil, sorrel and parsley that was served with the delicious French Dressing listed below:
French Dressing
ltsp. salt
ltsp. paprika
Vi tip. dry/mustard
Vt to V4 cup mixed-herb vinegar
V4 tap. pepper (optional)
ltsp. sugar
1 cup salad oil
Mix dry ingredients in jar. Add small amount of the vinegar, mix well. Add remaining vinegar and the oil. Stir and use about 2 tap. for each serving of vegetable salad.
Extension Homemakers from all over the county prepared and shared delicious treats such as Italian Herb Bread, Herb Chicken Salad, Herbed Butter, Herbed (been Peas, Whole Wheat Bread, Spice Cake, Carraway Cake, Herbed Meatballs, Herbed Chicken Mint Brownies, Tea and Coffee, and others that I have forgotten to mention but were equally delicious!
