State Police believe they have solved a bizarre 1975 hit and run case in which a Fauquier County businessman was killed on Waterloo Read.
William Rodger Pickett, of Amissville, is charged with hit and run in the accident which killed Joseph L. HoQidge on Dec. 20,1975.
Pickett had been a suspect for about three years, said Sgt. M. G. Millner, who has headed the State Police investigation since 1978. “His name had been around for a few years but we didn’t have any conclusive evidence,” Sgt. Millner said.
Sgt. Millner and Commonwealth’s Attorney Charles Foley refused to disclose the evidence before Pickett’s trial, which has not been scheduled. Pickett, free on a $10,000 bond, bees a maximum sentence of five years if convicted.
