Chapter I Approved
The board authorized Rowe to apply for her proposed budget for Chapter I programs for the 1964-1986 school year. Chapter I refen to the government’s portion of the money used to operate the special education program, and has already been included in next year’s budget under funds from other (non-county) sources.
Rowe is proposing a total of 6107,612, a figure that caused some confusion since there is also a carryover of $60,642 from this year’s money.
She explained that the time period is different from the regular school budget, with the expenditure period lasting from September 1, 1984 to June 30, 1966. She said she tries to save from each year’s allocation in the event that the requested fluids for the next year are substantially cut.
Estabrook asked for the board's approval of the literary loan application which had, upon approval at the last supervisors’ meeting, been revised upward to include the possibility of brick and mortar construction in lieu of the prefabricated building originally proposed. The final word on type of construction, however, has not yet been determined. The total request of $1,909,000 was approved.
Estabrook said that he would present it in Richmond personally on Friday.
