Question: Specifically, what is the scope of the project?
Answer: This is the plan. The project, when completed, 1 will house 120 people, period.
First, we would renovate the existing old ski lodge and build a 24-bed licensed home for adults. The lodge would be a cafeteria, administrative office and recreation area. The new construction would be the living area for the first 24 residents.
Our plans then would be to build the apartment units— up to 50 units. The rest of the project would then follow.
'The concept is to have a continuum of care type service: Service that provides housing for the elderly; care for the ambulatory; service for the non-ambulatory and ultimately, nursing care. Again, the total project is to house 120 people.
Question: How will the project benefit Rappahannock County?
Answer: It would provide services for Rappahannock County residents.
It would generate tax revenue for the county. Our best estimate at this time is that it would generate around $12,000 in tax revenue, annually, when completed.
It would provide jobs that are very much needed in the county. We’re gonna need a dietitian, kitchen help, aides and maintenance people.
It would benefit area businesses. Residents would be buying goods and services the same as people who live here. More than likely, some of them would be involved in community and civic activities.
It would enhance property values, it will bring attention to the beautiful area where the facility is located.
