Another step toward construction of a waste-water treatment system for Sperryville was taken August 23 when both the Rappahannock County Board of Supervisors and the county Planning Commission approved two amendments to the 1973 Zoning Ordinance.
The amendments allow the Rappahannock’s Water and Sewer Authority to construct public sewage facilities in floodplain districts where necessary.
Attorney Douglas Baumgardner, who represents the authority,- said the amendments were intended to insure the authority can build the treatment project in the floodplain district site set aside for that purpose.
Under a use variance permit granted by the Board of Supervisors in 1977, the authority was allowed to build the treatment plant on a five-acre site near Route 1003 in Sperryville. The variance expired a year later, but
