Now is the time to enjoy as many fresh peaches as possible because they are such a seasonal treat. Try a peach split for a cool dessert that’s perfect for warm summer evenings. This version of the ice cream parlor favorite combines Virginia peaches with vanilla ice cream and raspberry sherbet topped with a warm buttery praline sauce.
Peach Split
Peaches, peeled and halved
Vanilla ice cream
Raspberry sherbet
Praline Sauce (recipe follows)
Whipped cream

Praline Sauce: In small saucepan, combine 1 cup brown sugar, Vt cup milk, Vi cup slivered almonds, V* cup light com syrup and bring to a boil. Cook and stir over medium heat for 5 minutes. Remove from heat and add 2 tablespoons butter or margarine and 1 teaspoon vanilla. Serve warm. Makes about 1 Vs cups.
For each peach split, arrange 2 peach halves, 1 scoop vanilla ice cream and 1 scoop raspberry sherbet in individual dishes. Spoon on warm praline Sauce and top with whipped cream and neach slices.
